  • Attention students: It is imperative that all debts be paid prior to the summer break. In fact, seniors will not be allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies if they have an unpaid debt. In addition, no student will be allowed to make large purchases at our bookstore if they have an unpaid balance. As an example, one must pay off past debts prior to purchasing a yearbook. Go to the bookstore before school, during lunch or after school to pay off your debt.
  • Attention all track athletes: If you still have your track uniform you need to turn it in to either James or Dani one day this week after school. Debts for track uniforms have already been submitted to the book store. The debt will remain until the uniform is turned in and you will not receive any letters or awards.
  • Attention students: Physicals that were done May 2nd at Sunnyslope H.S. have been completed and are in the Athletic Office. Please turn in the rest of your paperwork to the Athletic Office to get cleared for 2009-2010 school year. These items are what you must have turned in: white emergency card, yellow physical paper, birth certificate ( if you have not previously participated in sports at Independence), and your film card. You must have ALL FOUR of these items completed BEFORE coming into the Athletic Office. Clearance hours are before school, during student lunches, and after school daily except Friday - no after school clearance on Fridays.
  • Attention all Patriots: Are you looking for a great way to cool off and unwind during these next two weeks of finals? Well your Swim and Dive team is providing you with a way of doing both. This week from Tuesday through Friday and next week from Tuesday through Thursday there will be open swim from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at O'Neil Pool. This is open to all current Patriots and any incoming freshmen. You must have a signed and approved permission slip to participate. You can pick your permission slip from Ms. May in the bookstore, Mr. Moulding, in the computer lab, Ms. Tokowitz in PE or Mr. Hallum's room R-25.
  • Patriot Swim and Dive camp is coming from July 27 until July 31st. This one week camp will help any Patriot develop great swimming, diving and exercise techniques, but maybe more importantly will provide you with a great and fun way of cooling off during the hottest part of the summer. It is open to all Patriots and incoming freshmen for only $20.00. You can pick up information and registration forms from Ms. May in the bookstore, Mr. Moulding in the computer lab, Ms. Tokowitz in PE or Mr. Hallum's room R-25.
  • The yearbooks are in! Come by the bookstore before school, during lunch or after school to buy a 2009 yearbook.

Being a member of this committee is a wonderful way to see how a city works while getting many hours of community experience. Mrs. Starr in counseling has the information for the application process. You need to start the process today. The deadline is June 5th.
  • There will be a meeting of all those interested in running cross country on Wednesday, May 20th at 2:45 p.m. in Coach Hermann's room, 116. We will be discussing our upcoming fundraiser.
