Friday, October 30

  • Attention boys’ basketball players. We will be having a mandatory meeting for anybody wanting to try out for the basketball team. This includes all levels. The meeting will be at 2:45 TOMORROW.
  • Reminder: Boys’ soccer tryouts begin Monday, November 2, at 3:00 p.m. on the baseball outfield. You must be cleared to participate!!!
  • Any girls that are interested in playing soccer there will be a mandatory meeting on Today after school at 2:45 in Ms. Monaghan's room. Even if you are currently in a sport you will need to stop by the meeting. Again it is MANDATORY that you come to the meeting if you are planning on playing soccer this year. The meeting will be today at 2:45 in Ms. Monaghan's room 217.

  • The Independence Badminton team will be competing in the State Tournament tomorrow, Saturday. They will be playing against Prescott here at Independence in the main gym. Admission is $5 for anyone over 5 years old. Best of luck to our Patriot Badminton team!

Come to the game and cheer the Patriots on to a VICTORY!

  • Congratulations to the boys and girls cross country teams on a great effort for the final home meet of the season against Youngkers, Verrado and Washington. Top finishers for the girls were Ylicia De La Garza, Kay Barraza, Vanessa Ventura, Liz Molina and Victoria Ramirez. The boys team won the meet with the top finishers Oscar Rodriguez with a blazing time of 17:22 over a three mile course, Allen Larucci, Gio Ramirez, Jesus Ontiveros, and Angel Garcia rounded out the top five for the Patriot harriers.

Junior Oscar Rodriguez was a medalist finishing 23rd in a field of over 120 runners other top finishers included Sr. Victoria Ramirez , Jr. Ylicia De La Garza ,Jr Kay Barraza Jr. Gio Ramirez , Freshman Liz Molina, Jesus Ontiveros and Juan Soriano. Way to run Patriots.

  • Attention seniors: Grads Photography will be here today to take your cap and gown pictures. These are the pictures that will be in the yearbook so make sure to stop by after school or during your lunch to get your picture taken.
  • Attention all Students: If you did not get your picture taken for the yearbook today your LAST chance. Make sure you stop by the photographer to get your picture taken after school, or during lunch to insure you will be in the yearbook.   • Attention Spanish Club members: Our next meeting is Tuesday, October 6th at 2:45 pm in Ms. Figueroa's room. This is a mandatory meeting for those students who signed up for the Relay for life and to serve as translators at the Desert Garden Elementary.
  • Get a jump start on your homework. Check out the Learning Center room 219, opens each morning 7 am and again after school till 3:30 pm. We not only can give you assistance with your homework but we can help out your hunger pains with breakfast and snack. Come in and ask us about the tickets you can earn toward the drawings for great prizes. First drawing held October 7th. See Ya there, Learning Center--- upstairs room 219
  • All girls interested in playing soccer we will be starting open field on Monday October 5th. You will need to turn in a permission slip in order to attend open field which you can get in room 217 Ms. Monaghan's room or Room B26 Ms. Dillion's room. Open field will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:00-4:30. Again it will start on Monday October 5th.
  • Hey Patriots! Do you enjoy learning about history and the world around you? Come visit the Patriots in History Club today at 2:45 in room R6.
  • We will be having a Key Club meeting at 245 on Tuesday October 6th, in r-5. This is a very important meeting that all Key Club members must attend.
