*ACE Plus applications are due December 4th by 3 PM. All sophomores who would like to be considered for GCC free college ACE Plus program need to complete the packet. This includes filling out the application form complete with parent signatures, writing a 300 word essay, getting a transcript from your counselor and having 2 letters of recommendations from teachers or employers.
*Hey Patriots! Please come out and join the IHS Dance Program for their annual winter dance concert on Thursday Dec. 3 and Friday Dec. 4th. Pre-sale tickets are on sale at the bookstore before and after school and during your lunch. The tickets are $5.00. The show will promptly start at 7:00 pm in the auditorium. Come support the IHS dancers!
*The math club and journalism staff are collecting items for soldiers overseas who won't be home for the holiday season. Items can be brought to Ms. Eul, room R19, Ms. Cass, room B16, or Ms. Milesic, room R15. Items will also be collected in the copy room. Hand sanitizer, soap, beef jerky, and shampoo/conditioner are the items needed. Thank you!

    *Two Patriots advanced to the Division 4A1 state championships this week and did very well. Freshman Anthony Quezada finished 13th overall in the state with a two day total of 153. Senior Chris Gonzales finished off a great high school career finishing in the top 25. Congratulations to Catalina Foothills who took both the boys and girls team titles benefiting from the home field advantage. Congratulations to all of our golfers who made this year so special.

Become a super hero and save three lives.*Last week the badminton team competed in the State Tournaments for team and individuals. The Patriots finished in the top four teams for State competition. Individually, the doubles team of Kathy Ngyuen and Tina Tellez won two matches. The team of Lupe Frias and Liz Preciado made it to Saturday’s championship rounds, as did Rosie Sanchez in singles. Senior Vanessa Jimenez was State-runner up in singles play. Great season ladies!

*Your IHS Patriot golf team finished strong at the Western Sky Regionals in Prescott this week sending two players to the state 4A tournament next week in Tucson. Anthony Quezada finished fourth in the region with a two day total of 158 and senior Chris Gonzales will also join the players at state after a great finish. Michael Alvarez received a regional scholar athlete award at the event. Great job Patriots!

*Congratulations to the varsity badminton team for finishing Team State as one of the top four teams. The Patriots lost a close, hard-fought, State semi-final match, 5-3 last night to Greenway. Badminton ends team competition with an impressive 15-1 record. Individual State competition begins this Friday. The doubles team of Lupe Frias and Liz Preciado, and the doubles team of Janea Chavez and Tina Tellez, will compete. Vanessa Jimenez and Rosie Sanchez will compete in singles play. *Reminder: Boys’ soccer tryouts begin TODAY at 3:00 p.m. on the baseball outfield. You must be cleared to participate!!!

*5 Independence choir students went to the All-State Show Choir auditions at Central High School on Saturday, and we are happy to announce that Tim Brown was selected as alternate tenor in the All State Show Choir. He will participate in 2 1/2 days of intense rehearsals for a show that will be presented at the Arizona Music Educators Conference in January. Congratulations, Tim!
*Girls’ basketball starts on Monday Nov. 2nd at 2:45 in the Practice Gym. If you missed the meeting yesterday please see Coach Gardner ASAP! You must be cleared through the athletic office to try out for basketball. Try-outs will be held for 3 days only; you must attend all three days! Hope to see you there! Also, there will be open gym today from 3-4pm.
