  • Hey freshmen! Want to join a club that’s exciting and fun? Great news…Student Council is looking for hardworking frewshmen like you to join and help your school! A meeting will be held TODAY, August 19 at 2:45pm in Mr. Riley’s room 213.
  • Attention all those interested in trying out for the JV spiritline; now is the time to get cleared for try-outs! The try-out clinic will be held TODAY, August 19, from 3:30 until 6:30 in the dance room. You must have had all paperwork completed, and be cleared through the athletic office by Tuesday, August 18, at 3:30 in order to attend the clinic and try-outs. You must also have watched the sports video as part of your clearance. Try-outs will be held on Friday, August 21, at 3:30 in the mini-auditorium. Please stop by Mrs. Hadley or Ms. Denny's rooms if you have any questions.
  • Are you interested in learning how to drive? A class will be held Monday, August 31 through Thursday, September 3rd…from 3:15 to 6:15pm on Glendale High School’s campus. The cost of the class is $210.00. If you are at least 15 years and 7 months old and have a valid drivers permit come by the IHS bookstore and sign up. The last day to sign up is August 26th.
  • Attention FCCLA members: There will be an FCCLA (Family Career Community Leaders of America) meeting on Thursday, August 20, at 7:30 am in room B-11. We will discuss officer elections and this year’s program plan. See Mrs. Ingram if you have questions. Hope to see you there.
  • There will be a DECA meeting at 7:30 a.m. TOMORROW in Room G-6 (Ms. Niemi's room). All interested please attend...officers will be voted on during this meeting.
  • The Independence Patriots Chess Team will hold an open meeting TODAY after school in room R-18. All interested players are welcome to attend. There are varsity and JV slots available. Tournament play starts soon. You can earn a Varsity letter for competing in the scheduled region tournaments. Contact Mr. Astgen in room R-20 or Mr. Breier in room R-18 if you cannot attend to receive the appropriate information to get cleared.
  • The AP Club would like to encourage all students to attend the first AP Club meeting of the new school year on Thursday August 20 at 2:45 pm in Room 111, Mrs. Kleissle's room in the new Science Building. We want to get nominations for new officers for this year.

  • THE GOLF TEAM WILL BE MEETING AFTER SCHOOL TODAY TO DISCUSS TYROUTS FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON AND PRACTICE SESSIONS. THIS IS A MANDATORY MEETING SO PLEASE COME TO MR. NOVAK'S ROOM RIGHT AFTER SCHOOL IN ROOM R16 AT 240 PM.
  • On Monday, August 24th, all students interested in helping their school, and community are to meet in Mr. Mandile's room, R-5, at 2:45 for the first Key Club meeting.
  • Back to school week is here! So get ready to “Tropic Like It's Hot!!” Monday is Starfish and Bermuda Shorts Day; keep it simple and wear stars and shorts! Tuesday is Tourist/ Vacation Day; dress like a tourist on vacation. Wednesday is Under the Sea Day; wear apparel from your favorite ocean themed movies. Thursday is Hawaiian/Beach Day; dress like a Hawaiian on the beach! Friday is Tropical Day, show your school spirit by wearing your class colors. The spirit assembly is August 28th. And remember to participate in all the spirit week games during both lunches on the week of August 24th.
  • Freshmen Teachers: Freshmen elections are coming up on September 4th and if you can please tell your freshmen students who is interested being a part of student council, there would a meeting held today, August 19th, at 2:45pm in the student council room( room 213). Thank you

  • Students signing up for the Dual Enrollment Math Program through Gateway Community College will need to report to our Computer Lab on Wednesday at 8:00am to take a placement test. All students enrolling in a math dual enrollment class will take the Math placement test that is 30 minutes long. If you are an ACE + student, bring your GCC student ID number. Remember this will be our first 'late start' so you will not be missing any classes. This test must be completed before your registration is complete. See Mrs. Starr in Counseling if you have any questions.

The first meeting is TOMORROW, August 18th at 2:45pm in room 501. We will be discussing plans for this year and anyone who comes is welcome to voice their opinions and ideas as well, we would love to hear them. We will also be discussing some new changes made to Theatre this year in order to help bring more people in. This is only the first of many; the club meets every other Tuesday and we hope to see many new faces at them. You don’t need to be in a class in order to be in the club. We invite everyone to join. Come help us make this year one of the best!! Remember Theatre is much more than acting and putting on plays, we hope to plan exciting events and give everyone a chance to be involved Hope to see you theatre!!

The physicals will be conducted between 3:00pm and 6:00pm in our nurses office area. You must have signed up for this physical by Wednesday to be eligible.
  • Sports clearances will take place before school, during student lunches, and after school everyday except Friday - NO AFTER SCHOOL CLEARANCES ON FRIDAY! Please have ALL of your paperwork ready BEFORE coming to the Athletic Office.

If you have an interest in being part of the Smartest Club on Campus, we're interested in you. The Academic Decathlon Team will be meeting on Friday in room B18 right after school.
  • Attention all students: If you need to see your counselor, you need to come before school, after school, or during your lunch. Counselors will not be calling students out of class this week unless it is an emergency.

  • There will be a meeting for all students interested in clubs or teams to discuss the requirements for clearance, opportunities available and seasons of sports and activities. Each student must be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian. Club sponsors and coaches will be present to answer questions you may have. Patriot Parent Night will be TOMORROW, August 13 at 6:00pm in the Auditorium.
